About Practical

We make the numbers stand up when it counts.

Practical is a boutique strategic-finance firm for founder-led companies. We build the reporting, forecasting, and financial infrastructure that lets a company scale, raise capital, sell, or acquire — and prove its worth to anyone who writes a check.

Boutique by design — you work directly with the principal.

Practical is intentionally small. Every engagement is led personally by a principal with two decades of enterprise finance experience — you work directly with that judgment, not an account team or a rotating associate. It’s the senior, hands-on access a growing company needs and rarely gets.

Enterprise discipline, right-sized.

Two decades in strategic finance and IT financial management — including Booz Allen Hamilton and governance of $200M+ technology and finance portfolios. The controls, board-ready reporting, and business-case rigor of enterprise-scale work, brought to a company that doesn’t have a finance department yet — without the enterprise overhead.

We build. We don’t just brief.

Implementation is embedded in every deliverable — diagnosis through execution, not recommendations alone. Where deep technical expertise is required, we scope the requirement, select and coordinate the specialist, and stay accountable for the result.

A complement to your CPA, not a replacement.

Your accountant and tax planner rely on the quality of the underlying data. We improve the structure and reliability of that data and turn it into management reporting, forecasts, and decision support. Strong financial leadership makes your other advisors more effective, not less necessary.

AI, always with a human in the loop.

We use AI directly on client work — financial models, cost comparisons, policy drafts, roadmaps — but never unsupervised. An experienced finance SME paired with AI is a different level of capability than either one alone; the judgment is what makes the output trustworthy. We also govern what the tools cost, so they earn their keep instead of quietly eating margin.

Why it matters

A mission is only as durable as the ability to fund it. We build the financial engine that lets what you’re building survive investors, a hard year, and an exit — so the work outlasts the moment.
